Homework #4:  Just Pencil and Paper Stuff

This week's homework is based on something that will be discussed in class on Thursday.
For those of you who would like to work on it before Thursday, the underlying idea is explained on pages 84 and 85 in the textbook "Sizing Up The Universe".

Here's the homework problem...

If we assume (mostly correctly)
	(i)   that the Moon orbits the Earth in a circular orbit (minimoon = maximoon), and
	(ii)  that the Sun is 400 times further away and 
	(iii) that the Moon orbits the Earth once every 28 days, 
then how much longer is the time interval from first quarter to third quarter than 
the time interval from third quarter to first quarter?
