Getting JAVA to Run
On a Mac OS/X machine...
- Click on the apple in the upper-left corner of screen and open
System Preferences.
- Assuming JAVA is already installed, there will be a Java icon in the
Other section of the system preferences window. Click it.
- The Java Control Panel will appear. Click on the Security
tab.
- Make sure the Enable Java content in the browser check-box is checked.
- The Security Level is probably already set to High or Very
High. Leave it there.
- In the Exception Site List part of the panel, click on Edit Site
List.
- Add two sites to the site list:
- http://www.princeton.edu
- http://orfe.princeton.edu
- Click on OK.
- Close Java Control Panel.
- Quit and restart your browser.
On an MS Windows machine...
- Click on Start in the lower-left corner of the screen and then click
on Control Panel to open the control panel.
- Assuming JAVA is already installed, there will be a Java icon.
Click it.
- The Java Control Panel will appear. Click on the Security
tab.
- Make sure the Enable Java content in the browser check-box is checked.
- The Security Level is probably already set to High or Very
High. Leave it there.
- In the Exception Site List part of the panel, click on Edit Site
List.
- Add two sites to the site list:

- http://orfe.princeton.edu
- Click on OK.
- Close Java Control Panel.
