Milky Way Galaxy
From the author of Welcome to the Universe in 3D
Here's a picture I took with my Seestar S30 Pro smart telescope in MilkyWay mode.
It's a 10-minute stack of 10-second subexposures.
This picture was taken at the Montgomery Veterans Park at 22:14 EDT on Aug 19, 2026.
Because of
Bortle 6.5 level light pollution it's impossible to see our Milky Way Galaxy in this
picture.
But, some stars are visible.
My favorites are the stars in the "The Teapot" part of the Sagitarius Constellation down near the bottom.
BE SURE TO SCROLL DOWN TO SEE A BETTER VERSION.
Using PixInsight and some Python code I was able to estimate the light pollution and subtract it from the image.
I was unable to correctly do that at the bottom part of the original image so I cropped that part out of the image.
Then, using Photoshop I was able to adjust the brightness so that the Milky Way would be quite easy to see.
